PHINNEY FAUX PAS

Ze wife wanted to check out one of Greenwood's newest additions in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood. It's called Sophon, a family-owned Cambodian restaurant. Greenwood Ave N got a bunch of really good spots along the whole stretch so I was sorta hyped to try this one. You can read my review HERE or you can check it out after the jump.

Kroeung mushroom khmeraage

Nhoam salad

Kha sach chrouk

Copy pasted from my Google Maps page where I have over 100M views.
Booked a 6pm table for 2. Ordered nhoam salad, kroeung mushroom khmeraage (fried oyster mushrooms), kha sach chrouk (braised pork belly) and a cup of rice for ze wife and I. It was a lot of food for 2 people who don't eat a lot. The salad was good but nothing to rave about. The fried oyster mushrooms gotta be the best I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned/fried without being oily. The pork belly was melt in our mouths yummy. Our server (female with glasses) briefly explained some of the menu items and how the spiciness can't be altered which we were cool with. We didn't have to wait long for the food to be served. I would have rated it higher if the one who presented the pork belly dish (young male server) didn't have spit flying from his mouth and onto our table (and most likely our food) while describing the dish. 🙃 Will be back for happy hour. Those fried mushrooms will be perfect with a glass of ice-cold beer!
